Okay, here's the deal...we're putting all of the little girls in one room when we move--our converted-garage "bonus" room. Problem is...they're girls, and the carpet is BLUE. I've obviously been buried in a sea of pink for just way too long, because I cannot for the life of me figure out how to decorate this room with blue carpet. If you had five girls, how would YOU decorate this room?

White and Blue rooms are very pretty for girls-think French...go thru the Pottery Barn catties for ideas too-soft yellows, darker blues, etc. look good. White furniture too. Think of flowers that are blue for inspiration as well. Quilts with blues, pinks, soft greens, soft yellows-all match blue. HTH
Pottery Barn.....DUH!! Why didn't I think of that? Thanksmuch Sheri!
I think once you get all their beds and furniture in, it will be a lot easier than you think. maybe look for a rug that incorporates pink in with the blue? And I LOVE pottery Barns ideas.. that's a good one!
Hi! My first thought was to play up the blue and maybe do an ocean theme/underwater theme, getting them to decorate with homemade crafts making fish and other sea life of different colors. You could soften the floor up a bit with large area rugs and also rugs of different textures. Second, I thought instead of making the blue carpet "appear" to disappear, you take advantage of it by using its complement, orange. (gasp) EEK! I know, I know, orange and blue for a little girls room, but this is what I had in mind http://www.gharexpert.com/mid/7102008124925.jpg I think it'd be lovely! Muted oranges in different tones, blues, pinks, white, a purple here or there. And don't forget lighting! With a room like this you'd want lighting of different heights and intensities just to create some warmth. I think it'd be a room that could really grow with them and should you move again, it'll transplant well. I shared a room with my 2 sisters for 10 years so boy do we know how to be versatile. We all have different tastes and styles! I'm sure the girls as they grow can put a spin on "their" area of the room and the fun-ness and carefreeness of it all would make it, well, okay! I'll be back to find out what you decide on! How fun! Great blog BTW!
